The Company
Based in East Acton, London, Clearspring started out as a mail order company in 1993. Since then, the business has grown and developed into a wholesale supplier for health food shops. About five years ago, they decided to move into ecommerce as well - opening an online shop, using Shopify, to sell health foods. Chris Lloyd manages Clearspring’s website and online sales.
The Challenge
With their growing success as a wholesale business, Clearspring saw another opportunity to bring their products directly to consumers with a Shopify site, and Chris headed up this venture. As an entirely new endeavour for the business, they had a small team; big on ambition but pushed for time and resources.
Copying each address from their orders within Shopify’s dashboard, they were then pasting them into their courier, DPD Local, to create dispatch labels. This process was laborious and slowing down the team.
When they started to use a second courier for smaller parcels and deliveries to more remote locations, their copy and paste process became even more of a problem. The constraints these issues placed on them meant that they were only able to tread water, with little scope for marketing and business growth.
The Solution

Keen to find a better way of managing their orders, Chris discovered Zenstores on the Shopify app store. Reasonably priced, based in the UK and offering support for their Shopify store, as well as all of their couriers - it was the perfect solution.
Within a few minutes, they were able to connect their Shopify account and orders started to appear in Zenstores. Connecting their Royal Mail account and DPD Local account was simple, and completely eliminated the need for copying and pasting. Labels are now created in just a few clicks, and the orders marked as dispatched are updated on their Shopify site.

With the time that Zenstores saves them, Chris and the ecommerce team are now able to focus on increasing sales. They knew there was a lot of potential to grow the online side of Clearspring, but they lacked the time and resources to act on it.
Now that the shipping and order management side of the business doesn’t take up all of their time, they’re able to invest in marketing and the site’s SEO, which they previously didn’t have the capacity for, to drive more sales.
We’re excited to see Clearspring grow, with more people enjoying the taste of their authentic Japanese and organic fine foods.
