The moment a customer hits "complete order" on Shopify isn't always the moment their order is final. A post-purchase upsell may mean items are added after checkout, or a customer might spot a wrong address or size and edit their order. Shopify's fraud analysis needs a moment to flag anything suspicious, while Shopify Flows and third-party apps may tag, route and adjust orders after checkout.

If your shipping software imports the order instantly, none of that has happened yet. The version of the order in your dispatch queue is a snapshot taken too early. At best, that means editing shipments manually to catch up. At worst, it means a parcel goes out missing the upsell item the customer paid for, or ships against an order that Shopify flagged as fraudulent thirty seconds too late.

Zenstores lets you set a delay on your Shopify order imports, so orders arrive in your dispatch queue complete, checked and ready to ship.

  1. Open your Shopify store settings in Zenstores

Hover over Settings and click Store Integrations. On the stores page, click the Shopify store you want to edit, then click Edit settings.

  2. Choose your import delay

Click the Delay before importing new Shopify orders dropdown and pick your preferred delay. You can choose anything from 15 seconds up to 2 hours, so there's a window to suit every setup. A minute or two covers most post-purchase upsells, while a longer delay gives fraud checks and more complex flows room to run.

  3. Everything post-purchase gets time to finish

From now on, every new order is held for your chosen window before importing. During that time, post-purchase add-ons attach to the order, customers can edit their details, Shopify's fraud detection completes its analysis, promotions apply, and Flows and third-party apps run their actions.

  4. The order imports into Zenstores, complete

When the delay ends, the order arrives in Zenstores in its final state, with the right items, the right address and the right tags. Your shipping rules and automations then run against accurate data

  5. Your team dispatches with confidence

What's in the dispatch queue matches what the customer actually ordered. No editing shipments to add upsell items, no recalling parcels, no shipping orders that fraud analysis would have caught.

Best platform on the Shopify Store. If you need an integrated invoice/ shipping label solution then this is the best there is. Support are 10/10 and always reply quickly and are fantastic. Thanks guys & keep up the amazing work.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does the delay slow down my dispatch?

Only by the length of the delay you choose. Most windows are measured in seconds or minutes, which has no real impact on same-day dispatch but removes an entire category of packing errors and manual corrections.

What delay should I choose?

It depends on what needs to be finished before import. Post-purchase upsells typically complete within a minute or two. If you rely on fraud analysis or more complex Shopify Flows, a longer window gives them room to run. You can change the setting at any time, so start conservative and shorten it once you're confident.

Can I set a different delay for each Shopify store?

Yes. The setting lives on each store connection, so if you run multiple Shopify stores through Zenstores, you can give each one its own delay, or none.

Does this affect orders that have already been imported?

No. The delay applies to new Shopify orders from the point you save the setting. Everything already in Zenstores stays exactly as it is.
