Why teams use this automation
Teams use this automation to save time organising pre-orders. This prevents pre-orders appearing in pick lists before stock arrives, so nobody goes looking for something that isn't on the shelf. And because the release is automatic, no held order is forgotten once the stock is available.
Who's this automation for?
This automation suits brands that take pre-orders, such as for:
- New collections
- Limited drops
- Seasonal stock
- Books and games ahead of their launch date
How this automation works
- The order is imported
The first rule runs when a new order arrives in Zenstores.
- Pre-orders are held
If the product is tagged pre-order, the order moves to On hold and stays out of every pick list.
- Zenstores waits for the release date
The second rule picks up the held pre-order and waits until the product's release date.
- The order is released
On the release date the order comes off hold and joins the next pick wave as normal.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need technical skills to set this up?
No. You build automations in Zenstores by picking a trigger, conditions and actions from a drag and drop editor. There's no code involved. The Zenstores team is also available to set these up for you.
What happens to orders that contain pre-order and in-stock items?
This can be handled in two ways. Either, the whole order can be held, or if you'd rather ship the in-stock items straight away, add a rule that automatically splits the order so that in-stock items are shipped separately.
What if stock arrives before the release date?
Release the orders by hand from On hold, or add a rule that releases them as soon as the stock is booked in.
Can your team set it up for me?
Yes. Our team builds your first automations with you during setup, so you're shipping with them from day one.
