Why teams use this automation
Parcel prices can climb quickly above 2kg, while DPD's next-day rate stays flat. Splitting by weight keeps light orders cheap and heavy ones fast, without anyone checking weights at the packing bench.
Who's this automation for?
This automation suits shops that ship a mix of light and heavy orders across more than one carrier, such as:
- Homeware and garden shops, where order weights vary widely
- Food and drink brands, where multipacks quickly pass 2kg
- Shops selling bundles alongside single items
How this automation works
- The order is imported
The automation runs the moment a new order arrives in Zenstores from any of your sales channels.
- Zenstores checks the weight
It looks at the order's total weight. Orders of 2kg or less are left on your default service.
- Heavy orders switch to DPD Next Day
Anything over 2kg has its carrier set to DPD and its service to Next Day, so the right label prints when it's packed.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I use a different weight cut-off?
Yes. Change the 2kg in the condition to whatever weight suits your rates, for example 5kg if that's where your carriers' prices cross over.
Can I send heavy parcels with a carrier other than DPD?
Yes. Change the carrier and service in the actions to any carrier connected to your Zenstores account.
What happens to orders of 2kg or less?
Nothing changes. They keep shipping on your default service.
