Why teams use this automation
Carriers can reject international bookings without a phone number. Holding the order lets your team contact the customer before it reaches the packing bench, instead of finding out when the shipment fails or the order is returned.
Who's this automation for?
This automation suits any brand shipping internationally, especially:
- Brands using express carriers such as DHL Express, FedEx or UPS
- Brands whose checkout doesn't make the phone number required
- Brands where international orders are a growing share of volume
How this automation works
- The order is imported
The rule runs when a new order arrives in Zenstores.
- Zenstores checks the destination and phone number
It matches orders going outside the UK that have no phone number on the delivery address.
- The order is held and tagged
The order moves to On hold with the tag 'Needs phone number', so it stays off the pick list until someone has added the number.
Frequently Asked Questions
How do I release the order once I have the number?
Add the number to the order, then release it from On hold so the order is then available to be shipped.
Can I hold orders with no email address too?
Yes. Keep the destination check, then add a second condition that matches any of: phone number is empty, or email address is empty. An international order missing either is then held.
